Neptune Comics opened its doors in Waukesha in January of 2004 in a 800 square foot storefront on Sunset Drive. The owners, Craig and Lisa Lopacinski, took pride in their store and the mix of comics, games and pop-culture items in a clean and friendly atmosphere. They hosted game tournaments frequently for Magic the Gathering and HeroClix. In addition they brought in some great comic book talent including Sal Abbinanti, Jim Krueger, Sean McKeever, Mike Norton, Steve Rude and Scott McCloud. They hosted lots of great events including Harry Potter pre-release parties and the Welcome Back Hulk event as well as several Free Comic Book Day events.
Eventually Neptune Comics outgrew the Sunset Drive location and moved to a larger store closer to the freeway, where the store is now located. At their current location on Moreland Boulevard Neptune Comics once again hosts HeroClix events in-store. They also have had some of the comic book talent that visited the old store back to do signings at this location. Free Comic Book Day continues to be a large annual event at Neptune Comics in which even X-Men and Jedi can be seen buying their comics. The inventory of comics, graphic novels, games, toys and other pop-culture items continues to grow. Neptune Comics also has the largest comics for kids area of any store in the area, making it a great family destination. They are active in the community, working with several local charities during the year to collect food, toys and donations.
As of September 2012 people can now shop with Neptune Comics on-line as well as in the store. Both in-stock items and pre-orders are accepted on the web site and soon Neptune will be offering some delivery options. Whether you stop in or shop on-line Neptune Comics works to help their customers enjoy their shopping experience and continually strives to earn customer loyalty.
